McDee's offers affordable fine arts classes for students of all abilities and ages taught by nationally recognized artists. Introductory classes provide beginning and novice students with the basic skills needed for continued growth and success in any art medium.
Registration Information
Classes are held at McDee's Art Center. Classes and workshops vary in length; please check the schedule below for details. Full payment by cash, check or credit card must accompany registrations. Make checks payable to McDee's Art Center, Inc. Mail registration and payment to or drop off at McDee's. Credit card registration can be made by phone. - A.W.A.R.E. for Seniors Tuesday from 1 - 2:30.
Cost is Free! At McDee’s Art Center Explore new art mediums without the
pressure of a formal class. Just show up and join in the fun.
- WILDLIFE ACRYLIC SERIES – A JEFF TIFT WORKSHOP
Learn to paint wildlife in acrylics. This weekly class will allow you to paint
at your own pace and a subject of your choosing. Lots of one on one learning
and no pressure. Attend weekly or as often as your schedule allows. Fridays from 9am until 1pm Weekly.
- Tuesday Mornings - Water Base Media
This workshop is for those who would like to find a friendly place to paint, learn new techniques, and meet other enthusiasts. Tuesday Mornings 9am - Noon. Call or stop in to register!
- Watercolor Workshop - Kay Barnes
This is a workshop with the theme of roses. We will be learning to create color dominance. This will be done with a wet into wet approach. There will be a few new surprises and techniques added to make this two-day workshop a very fun and rewarding experience. All levels. 10am - 4pm Friday, August 8, and 9am - 3pm Saturday, August 9, 2008. Call or stop in to register!

- Parent & Child Workshop #2 with Cordi Bradburn
This class is designed to take with your favorite drawing buddy! Parents,grandparents and any child over 5 years old is eligible. Come and draw a native bird from this area together! Fun and easy with step by step instructions. We will investigate common birds from our area, make sketches and a finished painting in watercolor. Friday August 1st, 2008. Ages 5 & Up 9:30 am to Noon. - CWAC (Central Washington Associated Cartoonists presents
MANGA AT McDEE’S)
Noted local artists/teachers, Mark Wavra and Dan McConnell will teach Manga, Japanese Anime and Cartooning. July 8-11, 2008 from 10AM-Noon. Ages: 10-15. Call or stop in to register!
- 11th Annual Wizards of Art Week - "Sculpture & 3-D Modeling!"
with instructor Terry Valdez and Mike McClun
Join professional artists Terry Valdez and Mike McClun for Wizards of Art Week.
This very popular summer art program returns for its eleventh year of fun, hands-on experiences for young people in our art studio setting with a variety of drawing techniques and materials. Monday through Thursday, July 14 through 17, 2008. Call or stop in to register!
- Experience Painting in Watercolor with instructor MICKIE FILES
This class taught by Mickie Files,
a local artist and instructor, are
designed for children ages 10 to 15.
Teaching students how to create watercolor
paintings and to enjoy the
process. All supplies necessary for the classes

- High School Summer Art Studio - "Advanced Visual Art experiences in
Drawing, Print Making, and Sculpture!" with instructor Terry Valdez
and Mike McClun
Join veteran high school art instructors Mike McClun and Terry Valdez in a fun, focused art studio setting to create and develop art works in drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. The student’s individual art process will be emphasized during four days of warm up and long term projects experimenting with assorted art media. Mondaythrough Thursday, July 28 through July 31, 2008. Call or stop in to register!
- Drawing and Sculpting the Human Face in Clay with Cordi Bradburn
Using air dry clay you will learn to make a human face from local sculptor Cordi Bradburn. Cordi's sculptures include "Pony Play" in the 2008-2009 Art on the Avenues walk and "Oscar and Fitz" in the Munchen Haus Restaurant, Leavenworth and "The Storyteller" in front of the Leavenworth Library. We will begin by sketching a face in proportion and then move to sculpting in clay. All materials included. Monday & Tuesday August 4th & 5th, 2008. Call or stop in to register!
- Flowers from a Bug's Eye View in Pastel with Cordi Bradburn
Using chalk pastels, we will study the beauty of flower forms in the style of Georgia O'Keefe. In other words very laerge and from a bugs eye view! Pastels can be simple and simply beautiful when used the right way. Join this class and draw a garden with us! Wednesday & Thursday August 6th & 7th, 2008. Call or stop in to register!
- C.W.A.C. (Cartooning at McDee's)
This fun class for 4th to 8th graders, is designed to teach basic cartooning and drawing techniques. Noted, local Cashmere Cartoonist, Dan McConnell will show how to use the pencil to achieve differing techniques towards develping one's own style.
