Daler-Rowney

The business was established as T. & R. Rowney in 1783 by brothers Thomas and Richard Rowney as a perfume maker and wig supplier with a shop on Holborn Hill in London, and soon moved into supplying writing materials and then artists' materials.

Fredrix

Fredrix® was founded in 1868 by E. H. Friedrichs. Although, he spent much of his time on trains and coaches drumming up business, he was much more than a salesman. He was a businessman, a chemist, an inventor, an innovator and he was the first in America to manufacture artist canvas for the trade.

Golden Artist Colors is a manufacturing company that focuses entirely on acrylic polymer based paints, used in the fine arts, decoration, and crafts. Based in New Berlin, New York, the company produces the largest line of acrylic colors that is currently available to artists, including recreations of historic pigments.

Grumbacher

Grumbacher is an American manufacturer of art materials. The company offers products for artists including oil, water-miscible oil, watercolor and acrylic paints, as well as brushes and painting media. It was founded in 1905 by Max Grumbacher and was a subsidiary of the Sanford L.P., a Newell Rubbermaid company, until September 2006. It is now owned by Chartpak, Inc., headquartered in Leeds, Massachusetts.

Koh-i-Noor Hardtmuth

Koh-i-Noor Hardtmuth a.s. is a Czech manufacturer of a full line of pencils, pens, art supplies. Formed in 1790 by Joseph Hardtmuth of Austria, the company was named after the Koh-i-Noor, a famous Indian diamond. In 1802 they patented the first pencil lead made from a combination of clay and graphite.

Liquitex

Liquitex is a registred trademark built as the abbreviation of "Liquid texture". The first water-based acrylic paint launched in 1955 by the company under this brand name was the first acrylic gesso, and colored liquid acrylic paints came one year later.

Sanford

Founded in 1857 by Frederick W. Redington and William H. Sanford, Jr. in Massachusetts as the Sanford Manufacturing Company, the company moved to Chicago in 1866 - five years before the Great Chicago Fire destroyed Sanford's Chicago location. New facilities were soon built after the devastation of the fire and operations resumed. In 1947, just following World War II, the Sanford Ink Company was forced to move locations to make room for a new expressway. The company settled in Bellwood, Illinois, where it still maintains a facility.

Strathmore

The history of Strathmore Paper Company began on St. Patrick's Day in 1892 when its founder, Horace Moses, opened the Mittineague paper mill in West Springfield, MA. Soon after opening the first mill, Mr. Moses visited the Valley of Strathmore in Scotland. The thistle was in full bloom and the beauty of the site impressed Horace Moses so much that he started using the name and the thistle as a symbol of high quality art and printing papers.

Windsor & Newton

Winsor & Newton is the trading name of ColArt Fine Art & Graphics Ltd, a former British company which was purchased in 1991 by the privately owned Beckers Group. They manufacture a wide variety of fine art products including: oils, alkyds, watercolours, acrylics, pastels, OMVS, brushes, canvases, papers, portfolios, and distribute the Derwent pencil sets.
